Rituals We Share — Sue Lee

Rituals We Share is a journal series that steps closer to the people who use our products every day. These are real stories from real lives — shaped by family, work, age, seasons, and everything in between.

At its heart, this series is about ritual in its truest form: the small, consistent acts of care that anchor us. Not perfection or routine for routine’s sake. But meaningful moments of pause that help us feel more like ourselves.

Our first story begins with Sue Lee — mother of tahi skincare founder Jackie, and a woman whose life has been defined by care, movement, family, and a deep appreciation for simplicity. Her approach to skincare reflects the same values she has carried through every season of her life: grounded, practical, and intentional.

Sue’s ritual is not about indulgence or trend — it’s about feeling well, staying connected to herself, and choosing products that align with her values of health, nature, and honesty.

We’re honoured to share her story.

Q1. Can you tell us a little about yourself and your day-to-day life?

Even in retirement, my days are still quite busy. Family plays a big part in my life, especially my four daughters and my grandchildren. I spend a lot of time with my husband, keeping up with our shared interests. Staying active is really important to me, movement helps me feel good both physically and mentally.

Q2. What first drew you to tahi?

Tahi, to me, is about caring for my skin in a natural way while also supporting my overall wellbeing, the two feel closely connected. I love how simple it is; it does everything I want skincare to do without feeling complicated. And while it is special that my daughter created it, that’s not why I use it, it genuinely ticked so many boxes for me and feels incredibly nourishing.

Q3. What does skincare look like for you realistically?

For me, skincare is about cleansing off the day and freshening up in the morning. It’s a simple routine, but an important one. I believe skincare should be made from natural products that align with my values around health and wellbeing.

Q4. How do you use tahi products in your daily or weekly rituals?

Every morning and night, I cleanse, tone, and moisturise with tahi. I really don’t like to miss this ritual, it’s a part of my day that helps set me up and gives me a sense of routine.

Q5. How does using tahi make you feel — beyond your skin?

Using tahi makes me feel really good. It feels like I’m doing the best I can for myself and for my skin. I really don’t like missing any of the steps, it’s become something I really value.

Q6. Would you recommend tahi to others, and why?

I always recommend tahi to others. There’s nothing better than the feeling I get when I use it and know exactly what the ingredients are, where they come from, and the healing properties they bring to each product. I’m proud to be part of tahi — a brand that is 100% New Zealand owned and made, and one that supports other local businesses to create these beautiful products.
