Journal of One: A Simple Warming Winter Herbal Tea [Recipe 02]

Winter has most certainly set in. Here in Karamea there has recently been a beautiful dusting of snow touching the mountains. On clear, sunny days looking at this and breathing in the beautiful winter air feels so good. Then coming inside to light the fire and sit down with a hot drink - that is what winter is all about I reckon!

I have put together a simple but really warming and powerful tea blend for you to try. I actually got all of my dried herbs from the Apocathary in Christchurch and I know there will be places throughout the country that sell these. Otherwise, using freshly picked leaves is an even better option; just be sure you know they are safe to consume. I also use a tea pot I have on hand. If you prefer to dilute it, just fill your teacup halfway and top the rest up with boiling water. Relax and enjoy the amazing benefits of this lovely tea

Please also do not consume this tea blend if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are taking medication or have any medical conditions consult your healthcare provider.

How this tea supports your skin health and your overall wellbeing:

Each ingredient brings something special to this tea blend.

Kawakawa has long been valued for its soothing properties, it supports digestion and inflammation. Kanuka and manuka both contain antioxidants that support the body's natural defences, these defences need more support at this time of year. Nettle is rich in vitamins and minerals including iron, calcium and magnesium which are all essential for maintaining good health. The fresh ginger adds a warming energy to our body and gently supports your digestion. To support your skin at this time of year, you need both internal and external herbs; this tea, along with Tahi's hydrating and supportive skincare range, makes for a great combination.
